Luxury Self Catering Accommodation Cottage near Loch Ness in the Highlands of Scotland
Loch Ness Self Catering Cottage located close to the village of Fort Augustus, at the southern end of Loch Ness, the famous home of Nessie, the Loch Ness Monster. Our self catering holiday home cottage is an ideal base for exploring much of the Highlands of Scotland. The property is called Tigh na coilltean, which is Gaelic for ‘House of woods’. This peaceful setting at the edge of the Inchnacardoch forest is just three quarters of a mile away from the heart of Fort Augustus, where there are shops, pubs and restaurants to explore.
The Caledonian Canal runs through the centre of Fort Augustus from Loch Ness, where boats can be seen negotiating a staircase of five canal locks. Visitors can also enjoy a visit to the Caledonian Canal Visitor Centre which details the history of the canal, sit and watch the boats navigating the locks or explore the Clansmen Centre, where appropriately attired guides demonstrate 17th century clan weaponry. Other local attractions include golf, fishing, the Great Glen Way, riverside and forest walks, boat trips on Loch Ness and nearby Urquhart Castle. Just 30 miles from the Nevis range the self catering cottage accommodation’s location is also ideal for winter sports and mountain biking.
